That was a bit much
I got carried away
I guess I was just having a bad day

Everything’s fine now
Even everything’s cool
I put my headphones in and walk to school

I work in a tower
It’s pearly and white
I get paid to air my laundry in plain sight

It’s hard to believe how
Lucky I’ve been
I knocked on every door and i got in

I know a good farmer
I’m a pretty good cook
A consequence of all the pills i took

That was an outburst
You shouldn’t have said
Focus on your gardening instead

Or take a vacation
Go up to the shore
Spend all our money at the record store

I’d rather be selling
What I’m determined to buy
The limit is a slightly lower sky

I won’t get despondent
That i made a good plan
Professional distinguished also-ran

It doesn’t cut like a razor
That my friends are in lights
A consequence of slightly longer sights

Or a quieter mind frame
When I was scared of the dark
Or my story might just have a longer arc

It bends in its own time
It grows like a weed
It knows the difference between want and need

I need to say something
But that doesn’t mean
That i am being heard or being seen

I fly under the radar
I use invisible ink
And anyways the writing helps me think

I think about old songs
And i think about you
And all that you believe that i can do

So I will do some things
On the days that i will
And hopefully that holds us both until

Something bigger should happen
Like you knew that it would
And it’ll be because you said i could

That’s a bit much
I throw a little too long
But tomorrow is your birthday, here’s a song

It started out about me
And ended up about you
As I would want my better days to do.
